The Italian American Club Invites all Rossmoorians who love Italian food to join us in a virtual dinner on Sunday, May 16.

Lucille Belomy, vice president of the Italian American Club works with Marcello, the chef at Il Pavone Restaurant, to create delicious dinner menus that are made to order and delivered to Rossmoor.  We’re sponsoring these dinners every other Sunday and invite all our friends and neighbors to share in the experience of a traditional Italian feast.

We always offer a choice of meat or vegetarian meals, which are packaged in microwavable containers, and delivered to the Hillside parking lot for pick up. The menu for our May 16 dinner will include an entrée choice of chicken saltimbocca or baked red snapper with lemon-caper sauce. Both come with rice and broccolini. The vegetarian choice is penne with marinara sauce, cheese and broccolini.  All meals come with grilled Caesar salad along with bread and butter. Dessert is chocolate mousse with strawberries and whipped cream.

The price for each dinner is $35, payable by check directly to Il Pavone at the time of pick-up.  Nick, the owner of Il Pavone, personally delivers them to Hillside at 5 p.m. on the day of the event.  A schedule for pickup will be sent out via email to avoid everyone showing up at once.

Please join us for a tantalizing taste experience. A virtual disk jockey will be available to provide music for listening and dancing. The Cocktail Hour will begin at our usual time of 5:15 PM – or since it’s virtual–whenever you like. (Note: BYOB! –you will have to provide your own liquor and wine).

Send your reservations via email to Donna Gonzales at She can be reached at 925-891-4396. The deadline for reservations is Thursday, May 13. Specify the number of meals ($35 each) and be sure to include phone and cell phone number as well as email address.

This is a great way to banish the blues, have some fun and a gourmet meal, while helping our friends at Il Pavone. Like all restaurants, they are struggling to keep employees on the payroll during this crisis. They truly appreciate our patronage and support.
